A Visit to the Vimyby Maria Langer, Webmaster I had the pleasure of visiting the Vimy in its hangar on Sunday and was fortunate to arrive while John LaNoue and two of his volunteer assistants were working on it. I hadn't seen the Vimy since April 2000 and was pleasantly surprised by the work John had done. In addition to repairs to make the plane airworthy again, John's team had also recovered the fuselage (the matching silver duct tape is gone!). There are new country flag stickers on the left side of the nose and a new locking baggage compartment behind the rear seat. The plane looks great. When I arrived, John and his team were working on covers to protect the cockpit and other seating areas from the elements during the flight to Oshkosh and while the plane is on display at Oshkosh this July. He expects to have them done before the trip begins. In all, the plane is coming along nicely, under the loving care of John and his team. I, for one, can't wait to see it again in July!
