Farnborough, UK: The Silver Queen Vickers Vimy replica is one of the star attractions of the Historic Air Park at Farnborough International Air Show, resplendent in her new silvery livery and with new BMW V12 engines.

Today was the first public day but the refitting programme by the Vimy project crew has already been acclaimed by the aviation industry during the previous week of trade days.

At the end of the Show, the Vimy will return to Kemble military aerodrome for further preparations for its re-enactment of the 1920 London to Cape Town pioneering flight.

The aircraft was flown in by Mark Rebholz who is Pilot In Command for the Vimy's Cape Town flight. he said after the flight: "The new BMW engines are superb. The power and reliability is much better [than the old Chevy engines] and the climb rate and fuel efficiency also much improved."

At the Air Show, the Silver Queen crew has various memorabilia for sale including copies of the Vimy stamps issued by the British Post Office and Silver Queen teeshirts.
