Brooklands
Museum Vimy Night
March 3, 2001
Vimy pilot Mark Rebholz appeared as the main speaker
at the Brooklands Museum Vimy Night, in Brooklands, UK.
Mark Rebholz may have been the primary speaker, but he
wasn't the only Vimy pilot to attend the March 3, 2001
Brooklands Museum Vimy Night event in Brooklands, U.K.
He was joined by five other Vimy pilots (left to right):
John LaNoue (Vimy builder), Mark Rebholz (Chief Pilot),
Dizzy Addicott, Peter McMillan (Vimy owner), Peter Hoar,
and Jeremy Palmer.
If
you've got sharp eyes, you may notice the model that appears
on the table behind the pilots in the above photo. Here's
a better look at the scale model of a Vickers Vimy biplane
that was on display at the event.
Mark's presentation went off well to an audience of about
150. The event was held to raise money for the Brooklands
Museum, which suffered extensive flood damage in November.
One
of the keepsakes available at the event were copies of
Peter McMillan's book, "The Greatest Flight."
The photo here shows Mark hard at work, autographing copies
of the book.
Webmaster Note: Those interested in Vimy models
may want to take a look on eBay.
I have purchased several production Vimy models dating
from the 1960s, still in their original boxes, from hobby
shop vendors there. Although pricey (between $15 and $30
US), they're an easy enough way to get your hands on a
Vimy even if it isn't the real thing.
