The Vimy is Being Reassembled by Mark Rebholz 17-January-00 The Vimy is at Gnoss Field, Petaluma, California being reassembled by John LaNoue and Peter McMillan. Chris Barnes, a friend and helper on the project since the beginning, is assisting with his crew of United Airlines mechanics based at the maintenance facility in San Francisco. In addition to the basic reassembly of the Vimy, John and crew are repairing minor damage from the shipment, corrosion proofing and inspecting every square inch of the plane. John hopes to have the Vimy flying by April 1st, when a series of test flights in the local area will prepare the Vimy for the upcoming appearance schedule. I will take this time to begin training the all volunteer crewmembers that will be flying the Vimy in the spring and summer.
