Munich First Major Stop for Silver Queen Flight17-October-98 Munich will be the first major stop for the Silver Queen after it departs from the UK on its epic London to Cape Town flight. The flight has now been postponed until mid-April. The Silver Queen will take off on one weekend from Brooklands Airfield, in Surrey, England, and fly across northern Europe to Munich, southern Germany. It will land at Oberschleissheim Airfield BMW's home airfield. The second stage of the flight will begin the following weekend when the Silver Queen leaves Munich, heading south for Africa. Munich is the home town of car and motorcycle manufacturer BMW, who has specially developed the pair of V12 engines for this flight. BMW was once a manufacturer of aircraft too its famous blue and white symbol depicts a propeller in motion. |
