Air BP Sponsors Silver Queen

by Alan Mocke,
Commercial Aviation Manager, Air BP

1-August-98

Air BP is the largest supplier of Aviation Fuels and Lubricants in southern and Eastern Africa through a network of more than 70 Airports. It's also one of the world's largest suppliers of aviation fuel, represented at over 1400 locations in some 85 countries worldwide. At Air BP we constantly seek to deliver Avgas 100LL, Jet A1 and Aero Oils of the highest quality and service levels to all our customers.

Air BP's General Aviation division provides unprecedented, worldwide fuel and customer service to all segments of the scheduled and non-scheduled airline market including: passenger, freight, charter, crop-spraying, air taxi and air ambulance flights.

Our dedicated Quality Control Department constantly monitors and reviews all stages of the research development, production and distribution of all our products.

At Air BP we are committed to the continued and continual growth and success of our valued customers and our commitment to customer service and the needs of the aviation industry is expressed by long term experience and recourses on a truly international scale.

Part of Air BP's (Africa) sponsorship of the Silver Queen historic flight from London to Cape Town is the use of an Air BP Flight Card for the uplifting of Avgas 100LL throughout our network during this historic flight.

Air BP Flight Card

The Air BP Flight Card provides immediate and convenient access to both Avgas 100 LL and Jet A1 throughout our network.
Air BP Flight cards are used by light aircraft and helicopter operators flying domestically and internationally, and are accepted at over 70 locations in 11 countries throughout Sub-Saharan Africa with more to come in the near future.

The Air BP Flight Card offers a convenient payment method so there is no need for the pilot to carry cash or foreign currency.
Each fuel operator in the Air BP network accepting our aviation cards is regularly promoted through our Air BP Africa Fuelling Directories raising the awareness of each site to our large portfolio of customers.

Every card customer receives a regular statement of account covering all purchases made with the card. This clearly identifies each purchase and any associated charges such as taxes and duties. The statement of account is made out in the major currency most convenient for our customers. Payment is easy — via Direct Debit or pre-arranged credit terms. A bank guarantee may be required.

At Air BP our commitment to customer service and the needs of the aviation industry is expressed by long term experience and recourses on a truly international scale.

Proud Sponsor of the "flying classroom" Educational Project

Air BP (Africa) is pleased to be sponsoring the Silver Queen historic flight from London to Cape Town. We will be sponsoring the Avgas 100LL to the value of $7000, the educational project "Flying classroom" to the value of $10,000, as well as the welcoming ceremony at the Cape Aviation Business centre (FBO) in Cape Town.

Through our sponsorship of this historical re-enactment of the first ever England to South Africa flight (which took place in 1920) in a rebuilt replica of the original Vickers Vimy bi-plane we hope to raise the awareness of as many children as possible on issues relating to environmental awareness, understanding of African cultures and its many geographic and biological mysteries, discovering the ecology and geology of the region as well as the history and technology of exploration and flight in Africa.

Our social investment programme focuses primarily on environmental education, training, community support, conservation, research, and the development of technology dealing with control of the effects of contamination and oil-related spills.

We recognise that support for participatory programmes such as the "Flying classroom" is an integral part of conservation, education and environmental awareness and therefore are proud to support initiatives such as the this that promote innovation and relevance in education.
