The Tutors

Mick Follari, Field Tutor

Mick and the five educational program students will join the Silver Queen for their trip through Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. They will embark on an educational journey discovering the ecology, wildlife, geology and peoples of these regions, as well as the history and technology of exploration and flight.

Simultaneously they will be interacting with other students who will help direct the inquiries, provide research, and receive field data and observation.

Mick studied engineering at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He has taught middle and high school maths and science at several private schools in the Boulder area, and as a private tutor in New York and in Colorado he has taught a variety of subjects and ages ranging from math and science to writing, with students aged 11-40.

Mick is heavily involved with Outdoor Leadership Expeditions, and has lead high-school hiking expeditions and canoeing trips into Northern Canada. With much personal climbing experience, he recently guided a group of young climbers to above 5000m in the Andes.

Matt Bresler, Photographer/Assistant Tutor

Matt will be assisting with the organisation of the project on all levels before take-off (client-liaison; sponsorship; merchandising; trip logistics; media coverage; educational programme; editorial). During the flight Matt will be involved with photographic coverage and with the educational programme, and will be assisting Captain Mark Rebholz with the trip logistics.

Matt is a South African with a Biotechnology PhD from Cambridge but soon to be working in Management Consultancy.

He has travelled extensively in Southern Africa, South and Central America, The Middle East and South East Asia with experiences ranging from Andean trekking and a photographic expedition to Cambodia's Killing Fields, to contract radioactivity work on Botwana's Makgadikgadi Pans and teaching in Nepal. He is an avid photographer with various awards and publications in the UK.
