Below is a photograph of John Alcock and Arthur Whitten-Brown, snapped while they were eating lunch in front of their aircraft shortly before taking off on their historic flight across the Atlantic in 1919. The photo was taken my grandfather, J.W. Morris, who served for many years as the Manager of the Newfoundland Light & Power Company.
