Sunday, I saw the report on your trip to Oshkosh in the July 12 AV-Web and clicked to your site from there. I was happy to see that you would be overnighting at Flabob Airport near my home in Redlands. I hopped in the car and drove right over. Most of the hoopla had died down and only a few people were still around but that did nothing to detract from the joy of seeing this airplane. You have done an incredible job of recreating a historic aircraft. Congratulations!

I am only sorry I did not get to see it in flight!

Read the Geographic article when it came out and just read the short item in Forbes Magazine. This is the best aviation site I have come across. Sorry I can't be in Arizona for the VIMY stop there. We have a home in Scottsdale, but spend the summers at our home in Maryland. If the VIMY visits anywhere on the east coast soon, will make the effort to see it. Colonel D.J. While at a pool party on Saturday July 14th, I heard this slow moving buzzing sound and looked up to see the Vimy in beautiful flight. I was dumbfounded to see this plane flying, because I thought they were only in books that I had read as an adolescent. I excitedly pointed it out to everyone around and told them what it was! It brought history alive for us all. Thanks!

Second visit to guest book.Looking forward to the visit of the Silver Queen to Topeka, KS 7/21.Questions for john LaNoue: !0 Why is the OWE 419# heavier than the original Vimy? 2)Why is the cruise speed 14mph slower than the original? 3) Is the operational ceiling at maxGW really 1200"?
Reference for the original's numbers is the Franklin Institute's Long Flight story at www.fi.edu/flights/long/.
Thanks

Read about the Vimy today in the Rockie Mt. News, great article!
Having lived in Novato from 1989 to 1999 before moving to Niwot
(7 miles NE of Boulder), it was great to see that Vimy is home
at Gnoss field. Vimy really puts Novato on the world map!

Good luck, and good fortune on all of you coming flights! Hope you
are in the Denver/Boulder area some time in the future!

Thank you for restoring a great airplane, and for sharing her with
the world!!

Wonderfull story. First noticed in National Geographic. Over the years
have travelled London, South Africa many times. Flying the route hard
enough, but to think of drama involved flying Vimy, jumping around from
safe landing's and country's before landing in Capetown.Great adventure. Alan Niederlitz

I work at Gnoss Field in the airport manager's office. I have seen the Vimy in the pattern and in its hangar on many occasions dating back to May 2001. It is a most impressive looking airplane and when you are up close the size of it amazes you.

The first time I walked into the hangar I met John who was very gracious in giving me the full tour.

The site looks great! Easy to navigate, lots of information. I expect to tune in often to check on the Vimy. Wish I could go to Oshkosh this year. I'm sure it'll be a real star attraction. Best of luck; keep flying!

This message is from Paul Henry Goyetche. I was a proud member of the Vimy 19/94 " Spirit of Brooklands " wiring team along w/my associates Duncan C.Audette & Erik Durfey.
I just wanted to send along my greetings & best wishes to all our Vimy friends & give a brief update on myself & Dunc. Hard to believe it's been 7 years since those long hot days in the hangar at Hamilton AFB. I went to school to learn machining & moved back to the Boston area to take care of my elderly mom & family property. I almost made it to the show in Oshkosh last summer. I even had my book ready for signatures. Dunc & family purchased a home & moved to Grass Valley last fall. I'm hoping to visit them this summer. I went to see Dick Dale
"King of the surf guitars" last week & he mentioned that he was a pilot so I had him sign my Vimy bomber jacket. I also have a neighbor that was born
in Ireland close to where the Vimy landed in 1919. I found that out because I was wearing one of my Vimy shirts & he asked where I got it. After I told
him of my experience working on the Vimy 19/94 project, I showed him one of my copies of Peters book. He was so excited looking through the book he
asked if he could borrow it. I told him that he didn't need to borrow it because he owned it now.
In conclusion I'd just like to let everyone know that I had a wonderful time working on the Vimy & met a lot of great people & would enjoy hearing from them again.

Sincerely, Paul

Fantastic! No other airplane has captured my imagination like this one! I'm finally catching up with my Y2K issues of EAA's Sport Aviation and am eagerly soaking up and poring over the Vimy articles. (Can't wait to get my hands on the video/s; I had hoped to purchase them here on the website - did I miss them?)

Godspeed, men.

Bob Elliott from Helena, MT, USA, who visited on 12/23/2000 and learned about this site from An Article or Review, said:
I was sorry to miss the Vimy at the EAA gathering in Oshkosh, WI, in July. I was hoping I might see it at Gnoss field when I passed through Novato, CA, in September. I actually found the hangar where it is kept, but the hangar was closed and nobody was there. I only got to see the Vimy through a crack in the door. Better luck next year, I hope.

For those who are looking for a Vimy model, there is a web site that sells models and publications: www.greatmodels.com/ where you can see and order their products. They have a 1/72 scale model of the Vimy made by Maquette Models. Also, they sell a book from Albatros Publications titled "Vickers Vimy" by J.M. Bruce.

John Plumb from Rosemont, PA, USA, who visited on 12/21/2000 and learned about this site from Another Web Site, said:
I came across the Vimy project while looking for information on the Save-a-Connie and the MATS Connie projects. Can't wait to see the aircraft in person.
